HB 91: Traffic Control Signs for Bicycles, sponsored by Rep. Spackman Moss, will allow cyclists to proceed through a red light after they have come to a complete stop if the light is programmed to turn green only with the arrival of a motor vehicle and does not recognize the cyclist. HB 91 has passed through the Utah House of Representatives and is now in the Senate. Please call or email your senator and express your support for this bill.
We've all been frustrated waiting for lights to change that don't recognize our arrival at the intersection. This will change the law so that it will be legal to go through a red light after we have stopped and provided there is no cross traffic (obviously).
To look up your senator, you can add your address at this link at it will pull it up for you:

This bill was initially defeated in the House committee, so it is important to show our support. Idaho has a law like this that has been in place for years, and it would be a great move towards making Utah more cycling friendly.
